Dear Coalition for Peace Action (CFPA) Supporter,
The Appeal below was postal mailed to CFPA's members, pledgers and donors earlier this month. Developments since then highlight that the Peace Challenges are very challenging indeed.
For example, Switzerland is revamping its Cold War Era Nuclear Bunker Network, reasoning that the danger of nuclear war is increasing to that level again. The last remaining US-Russia Treaty to limit nuclear weapons, known as New START, will expire in February 2026--and neither side is actively working to renew it!
So, if you have not yet made a year-end donation, I urgently request that you review the appeal below and respond as generously as possible!
CFPA's 2024 Year End Holiday Fundraising Appeal
With your support, CFPA has had an intense year of peace organizing with some important successes. See Highlights of Accomplishments. One additional item I want to add is my talk to the annual meeting of Muslims for Peace. Thank you!
I’m writing to request your Year-end Holiday gift for peace. This Election year, we prioritized our Peace Voter 2024 Campaign. We targeted three races in NJ: the US Senate race and NJ Congressional Districts 3 and 7.
We offered Candidate Briefings by CFPA’s experts and organizational leaders to major party candidates; seven accepted. We then sent Peace Voter Questionnaires and created Peace Voter Guides for the Primary and General Elections. In the end, the Candidate shown to be more pro-peace won in two of the three!
On November 17, our 45th Annual Conference and Multifaith Service for Peace had over 400 in person and online attendees. We had highly positive feedback from attendees. Click here to view photos, short summaries, and recordings.
Over the past year, CFPA sponsored or co-sponsored other major events that had nearly 2,200 total attendees! Click here to see details. We also had 25 items of “earned” (meaning not paid advertising) press coverage—an average of two per month. This included four front page articles!
Finally, we have promoted Diplomacy, Not War in Ukraine, as well as in the Israel-Hamas War. This included several E-alerts advocating for Sen. Sanders’ legislation to disapprove of additional offensive weapons to Israel. Over 450 of our supporters emailed their Congresspersons in support!
It is a major challenge to overcome a militarized approach to these major wars, and to advocate urgently for peaceful, diplomatic alternatives.
We need your generous year-end holiday gift to meet the greatly increased challenges ahead. Click here or the icon below to make your 2024 year-end gift for peace NOW!
P.S. If you are 73 or over, consider designating your Required Minimum Distribution to Peace Action Education Fund to also reduce your annual tax liability.
Sincerely,
The Rev. Robert Moore
