On Wednesday, August 9 (the 72nd anniversary of the atomic bombing of the Japanese city, Nagasaki) the Coalition for Peace Action held a film screening and vigil at the Princeton Public Library and Hinds Plaza. The evening began with a byo picnic dinner that featured music from the Solidarity Singers. Following the picnic, there was a screening of the film White Light, Black Rain in the Princeton Public Library Community Room. Participants then gathered in Hinds Plaza for a candlelight vigil and music from both the Solidarity Singers and flautist Glenn Swann.
Attended by approximately 75 people, this event was particularly poingnant and timely given the current tensions over North Korea's nuclear weapons program. Please see photos below or click here for the Facebook album (photos courtesy of John Lien).
The Solidarity Singers perform during the picnic.
Attendees watch the film, White Light, Black Rain.
The evening ends with a candlelight vigil.
