On Thursday, July 13, a delegation from the Coalition for Peace Action traveled to Washington, D.C. to Lobby for peace issues. This group met with the staffs of Sen. Bob Casey (D-PA), Sen. Pat Toomey (R-PA), Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ), Sen. Bob Menenedez (D-NJ), Rep. Chris Smith (R-NJ), Rep. Frank LoBiondo (R-NJ), Rep. Leonard Lance (R-NJ), and Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman (D-NJ). In addition, the group met Sen. Casey and Reps. Smith, LoBiondo, and Watson-Coleman themselves. We also bumped into Sen. Steve Daines (R-MT) who we stopped to ask for directions!

The topics discussed included the Markey-Lieu (Restricting First Use of Nuclear Weapons) Bill (S.1235/H.R. 2668), the Smarter Approach to Nuclear Expenditures (SANE) Act, preservation of the Iran Nuclear Agreement, the National Defense Authorization Act, concerns over Saudi Arabian arms sales and the wars in Syria and Yemen, and opposition to the Concealed-Carry Reciprocity Act (S.466/H.R. 38).

The delegation received many positive responses and provided a wealth of knowledge during each meeting. It was a successful day! Click here for short reports from several of the attendees.
